01Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Velora ("Velora", "we", "us") collects when you use veloraclient.com and the Velora launcher and client (the "Service"), why we collect it, and what rights you have.
Velora is the data controller for the data described here. You can reach us at [email protected] or in our Discord.
The short version: we only collect what we need to run Velora. We never see your Microsoft password, and we do not sell your data.
02What we collect
Your Minecraft account
When you sign in, Microsoft gives the launcher your Minecraft username, your account ID (UUID), your skin and a login token. The token is stored on your own computer so you don't have to sign in every time. Your password is typed on Microsoft's own page and never reaches us.
Social features
- Friends: your friends list, friend requests, online status and what you are playing (for example, which server you are on).
- Chat: messages you send to friends, so they can be delivered and so we can deal with abuse reports.
- Voice chat: your voice is sent live to the people you are talking to. We do not record or store voice audio.
- Cosmetics: which cosmetics and emotes you have and which ones you have equipped, so other players can see them.
Technical data
- your launcher version, the Minecraft version you play, your operating system and basic hardware info such as your CPU and graphics card;
- crash reports and error logs, so we can fix bugs;
- your IP address, which our servers receive when you connect, used for security and to stop abuse.
The website
veloraclient.com does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser and the pages you visit, for security. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which see your IP address.
Connected services
If you connect Spotify, the launcher stores a Spotify token on your computer to show and control what's playing. Discord Rich Presence runs locally and only shares what you are doing with your own Discord app. We do not get access to your Spotify or Discord accounts beyond this.
03How we use your data
We use your data to:
- sign you in and run the launcher and client;
- run friends, chat, voice chat and cosmetics;
- fix crashes and bugs and improve performance;
- keep the Service secure and prevent cheating, spam and abuse;
- handle reports and enforce our Terms;
- reply to you when you contact us;
- meet our legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
04Legal basis
If you are in the EU, UK or a similar region, we rely on these legal grounds under the GDPR:
| Basis | Used for |
|---|---|
| Contract | Sign-in, the launcher, friends, chat, voice chat and cosmetics: what you need to use Velora. |
| Legitimate interest | Crash reports, security, preventing abuse and improving the Service. |
| Consent | Optional connections such as Spotify. You can withdraw consent at any time by disconnecting. |
| Legal obligation | Keeping or sharing data when the law requires it. |
06How long we keep it
- Account and social data: as long as you use Velora. Deleted after you ask us to delete your account, or after 24 months without use.
- Chat messages: up to 30 days, or longer if they are part of an abuse report we are handling.
- Voice chat: not stored.
- Crash reports and logs: up to 90 days.
- Website server logs: up to 30 days.
Data stored on your own computer, such as your login token, stays there until you sign out or uninstall the launcher.
07Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- get a copy of your personal data;
- have wrong data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your data;
- receive your data in a format you can take elsewhere;
- withdraw consent at any time.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected] or message us on Discord. We may ask you to prove the account is yours. We will reply within one month.
You can also complain to your data protection authority. In the Netherlands, that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
08Children
Many Minecraft players are young. If you are under 16, you need permission from a parent or guardian to use Velora.
If you are a parent and think your child gave us data without your permission, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
09Security
We use measures such as encrypted connections and limited staff access to protect your data. No system is completely secure, though, so keep your computer and Microsoft account safe as well. If a data breach puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy, for example when we add new features. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is important, we will tell you in the launcher or in our Discord.
